User's Tip
This week the PC
user tip is for our listener who are Gmail users - or want to be. Even
if you love Gmail, and most of us do, it is a pain to have to log on to
a website to check to see if you have any new mail. The solution? The
Gmail Notifier.
You can find it under the Gmail Settings link. Just click on the link
and it will install an icon in your Window's System tray that shows
your unread messages, including the sender, subject, a bit of each
message. The great thing is, when you click on an item, your browser
will open and take you directly to the Gmail inbox.
If you want to ditch your Hotmail account and move to Gmail, just send
me an e-mail at talkback@copcast.net and I will send you one of my
invites.
- Mac
User's Tip
One of the few
features that I missed when I switched from a Windows computer to a Mac
was the way the Delete function worked. Windows computers have both a
Backspace that functions as a delete-left key and a Delete that
functions as a delete-right key. Unfortunately, Mac notebook keyboards
only have the delete-left function via the Delete key.
The work around for the missing delete-right key is to use hold down
the Fn and then it the Delete key which performs a delete-right
operation. You may also consider using a freeware program called
DoubleCommand.
With this free program, you can change the baskslash key to perform the
delete-right function. You can still get to the backslash by holding
down the Function key and pressing the key backslash key. It will also
let you use Shift-Delete to do a delete-right. The program has several
other adjustments that you may like too.
