• Each week we try to include training announcements from academies or training organizations.  This week we want to announce that Crater Criminal Justice Academy, located near Petersburg, VA, is hosting a class entitled, Following the Money, December 4 - 6, 2006.
  

  These classes are being presented by the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) group. This group is a Multi-jurisdictional Counter drug Task Force covering Washington, Baltimore and parts of Virginia.
  

  This course will provide students with the principles and techniques for the financial aspects of drug-related investigations. This interactive course involves specific case scenarios that will allow the student to conduct financial interviews, identify sources of financial information, utilize indirect methods of proving profitability in illegal enterprises, carry out financial undercover operations, and execute financial search warrants.

• PC User's Tip
  

This week for our PC user tip, I want to talk about your wireless connection. War driving for open wireless signals is kind of fun but it can also be dangerous. Windows has a feature called Wireless Zero Configuration. It helps you connect to open wireless signals including unknown and untrusted networks. So, unless you are really adventurous, you may want to consider preventing your laptop from connecting to unknown networks automatically. Here’s how to do it.


1. Click Start>>Control Panel.
2. Double-click Network Connections and right-click your connection.
3. Select Properties.
4. Open the Wireless Networks tab and click Advanced.
5. Deselect "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks."
6. Click OK>>OK
