- This week we want to
announce that the Virginia
Community Policing Institute will be sponsoring a course
entitle Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement, which is presented by
Dr. Kevin Gilmartin.
- We welcome
training announcements from any criminal justice training academy or
training organization. Just send the information to talkback@copcast.net
and we will do our best to announce your training course.
You can create a Microsoft Word handout that includes your PowerPoint
slides. This tip will work for you if you use PowerPoint 2000/2002/2003.
- With your presentation open,
select File | Send To |
Microsoft Office Word. The Send To Microsoft
Office Word dialog box appears.
In 2000, select File | Send To | Microsoft Word to open the
Write-Up dialog box.
- In the Page
Layout area of the dialog box, select the desired
option
(but
don't choose Outline Only).
- Make sure that the Paste
option button is selected in the Add
Slides area of the dialog box and click OK.

User's Tip
When
you don't have time to read a web page in Safari, but want to make sure
the page doesn't change before you find time, simply save it as a web
archive. In the Tiger release of Safari, you can now archive pages so
the content and formatting remain intact. To do so:
- Navigate to a page you wish to save for future viewing.
- Choose File | Save As and choose Web Archive from the pop-up menu.
- Select Web Archive from the Format pop-up menu.
- Click the Save button.
Now, whenever you want to read the file, just double-click on the file icon to open the archive in Safari (or choose File | Open
from within Safari and navigate to the document). Once open, the web
archive looks just like the page you saved, complete with active links
and formatting. Keep in mind though that in the ever-changing world of
the web, some links in an archived page might become inactive over
time.
