User's Tip
For the PC user tip this week, let's look at ActiveX. If you want to
use Windows Updater, you need to make sure that you have ActiveX turned
on. To activate ActiveX, choose Tools, Internet Options, Security tab
and click the Internet zone and click Custom Level.
When the Security Settings window opens, scroll down to the ActiveX
controls and plug-ins section and enable both the options for Run
ActiveX controls and plug-ins and Script ActiveX controls marked safe
for scripting. Click Ok twice.
Close the browser and restart it for the settings to take effect.
- Mac
User's Tip
For
our Mac User tip, let's take another look at Preview. Most of us think
of Preview as mainly an image viewer, not an image creator. However,
you may not realize that Preview can actually create images in one very
specific situation. When there's a graphic on your clipboard, you can
use Preview to quickly convert the clipboard contents into an image
file. So now you file this little tidbit away in the recesses of your
mind for future use.
